THE HISTORY
OF THE COMPUTER
The Computer is a programmable
electronic device that can store, retrieve, and process
data. It is widely used all
over the world, and is used for everything from personal
computers, PCs, used at home
to huge super computers that run goverments. Computers
work on a system called binary.
Binary is many ones and zeros put together to form a
computer language. Binary
is not only ones and zeros but can be represented by
anything. We could call them
A and B, Bill and Jill, or anything else you could think of.
A computer uses binary to
mean on or off. On the microchip of a computer there are
millions of small little objects
called transistors. They direct the flow of electricty; the on
or off used in binary.
